ABIGAIL

My little girl

Abigail came to me through a friends daughter.  She was about to be taken to the pound when Jen stepped in and told her she would find a home for her.  Jen called me about a rescue group but asked that I come over to see her because she just didn't look good.  When I arrived, I saw this very small framed pug who looked like she just had had a litter.  That face just melted my heart so I told her I would take her.  Got her into the vet only to find out that she had "pyometra", which is an infection of the uterus.  Surgery had to be performed right away so she wouldn't die.  She came through the surgery but we found other things wrong.  Last month, she was diagnosed with conjestive heart failure but will do well with daily medication for now.   She had to have another surgery because of a blockage between her stomach and her intestines.   Abigail is the perfect example of poor breeding though puppy mills.  She has the heart and the personality that words just can't describe.  She makes me laugh all day long.

My Big Bear - Molly

This is my precious MOLLY.  She is 12 years old.  She was up at Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah and was brought down here to find her forever home 2 years ago.  I met her and immediately fell in love with her.
January 15, 2010 - today my big bear of a girl said good bye.  She was doing her favorite thing - riding shot gun with her mom while I did my pet sit visits to clients.  As always, she waited patiently in the car for me.  She would come with me often as that was always our quiet time together.  Our time was good, though it was brief.  I know in my heart that these past 2 years she spent with me were good ones.  She came to me with a broken spirit, afraid of everyone and everything.  My reward was watching her come alive and enjoy life again.  You will be missed my love.

The "Character" of Them All

This is Otis Archibald.  He came to me 4 years ago from Az. Pug Rescue - I was his foster mom.  His parents decided to divorce and neither one wanted him.  He was 10 years old at the time and lived in a small crate while they travelled in an RV year round.  He is totally blind in one eye and has lost his other eye completely in September.  The surgery and the lose of his sight has been extremely hard on him.

My Oldest - Miss Dolly

This is Ms. Dolly - my oldest.  She is now 18 years old but still thinks she is 3.  She is the leader of the pack and makes sure everyone is doing what they are suppose to be doing.  I have had her since she was 7 weeks old and she has been there to help me with all the newcomers and fosters we have helped.  She recently had an injury to her right eye and is now on eye meds for the remainder of her life.

Sir Winston - here is a guy that knows no boundaries!!!!  He has spinal and disc problems but it doesn't slow him down.  He is the most determined dog I know.  We got a wheelchair for him but to date, he's not having it.  He is stubborn and wants to walk all on his own.  He is slow but determined to follow me when outside and will walk all the way out to the barn to keep tabs on everyone.  At 12 years old, he lost his owner when she became very ill and passed away.  When he came to us he was scared and couldn't understand what he did wrong or why he was here.  Today, he's part of the family and enjoying life!

Ms. Lucy - a 10 year old Shepherd Mix, she found herself at another rescue group with about 50 other dogs.  She was pulled off the "E" list but was completely lost in the sea of other dogs.  Very quiet, shy and just staying in a corner, I brought her home and with a little bit of coaxing, is beginning to come around and explore.  She has severe arthritis in all legs, which she gets daily medication for.  She is loving all the new found attention she is getting.
